Dr Chris Plummer is a consultant cardiologist the Trust’s Chief Clinical Information Officer. His clinical practice is focused on implantable cardiac rhythm devices, the cardiovascular effects of cancer treatment and MRI in patients with pacemakers and defibrillators.
Dr Plummer trained in Bristol and Oxford Universities and undertook his post-graduate cardiology training in the Northern Deanery.

Research
Dr Plummer is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Newcastle University, and NIHR Newcastle Biomedical Research Centre Theme Lead for Precision Medicine, Genomics and Informatics.
This work uses routinely collected clinical data for research in multiple long-term conditions, and to develop clinical decision support tools to aid precision medicine delivery in clinical practice as part of the ADMISSION and AI-multiply (NIHR Artificial Intelligence for Multiple Long-Term Conditions) studies.
His clinical research interests include the cardiovascular effects of cancer treatments, including the early detection of toxicity with biomarkers, and protective strategies for adults and children.
