The closing date has been extended to Friday 9 June 2023.
Submit a nomination for the 2023 Celebrating Excellence AwardsThis year marks the 75th anniversary of the National Health Service and today we could not imagine life without it despite some of the challenges we as a trust – and the wider NHS – have faced in more recent times.
We spend so much time, effort and energy concentrating on the here and now, we don’t often get the opportunity to take some time out to reflect on and acknowledge the fantastic work happening across Newcastle Hospitals.
Our Celebrating Excellence Awards are an opportunity to do that because despite those pressures (and sometimes because of them), our teams and individuals are still pushing forwards to develop new services and drive innovation to support patients.
It’s fitting as we celebrate this diamond anniversary, that we recognise and show appreciation for all that our staff do, day in and day out, whether that’s in our hospitals or the community, in clinical areas or recognising those unsung heroes who play an essential support role.
This anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate the work of our Black and ethnic minority colleagues – who today make up almost a quarter of the NHS workforce – as 2023 also marks 75 years since the arrival of HMT Empire Windrush, with many passengers taking up roles in the NHS which was launched just two weeks later on 5 July 1948.
There are 15 categories you can nominate colleagues in and – in honour of NHS 75 – we have included a Lifetime Achievement Award this year.
As always, everyone working in the trust should be eligible for at least one category and we are also giving people the opportunity to recognise the huge contribution our volunteers and charity supporters make to the trust.
This is now a key annual event in the calendar and thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and support of Newcastle Hospitals Charity, we will be holding a gala evening at the Civic Centre on Friday 15 September 2023.
So please tell us who you think deserves to be recognised for the real difference they make to patients or the people they work with.
