Dr Jonathan Heaney is a Consultant Rheumatologist at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital specialising in connective tissue diseases.
Dr Heaney completed his specialist training in Edinburgh in 2012, before taking up his first Consultant post in Sunderland Royal Hospital and then moving to Freeman Hospital in 2017.
He runs inflammatory connective tissue disease clinics with an interest in vasculitis and sits on the North East Regional CTD and Vasculitis MDT.
Dr Heaney is part of the team which provides Newcastle’s Giant Cell Arteritis Fast Track Service, and he also runs general rheumatology clinics working in close collaboration with colleagues in the Respiratory, Dermatology, Renal, ENT and Neurology departments.
Research
Dr Heaney recruits patients to clinical trials in vasculitis, inflammatory arthritis and connective tissue diseases.
