Dr Sally Johnson is a Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist at the Great North Children’s Hospital where she specialises in Haemolytic uraemic syndrome and C3 Glomerulopathy.
Dr Johnson has been a children’s kidney specialist in Newcastle since 2010 where she loves working with a highly skilled team of health professionals to ensure children with kidney disease in the North East and North Cumbria have the treatment they need and can live well with their condition.
In the Renal Family Genetics Clinic she works with colleagues to help families who may have inherited kidney disease.
She is the paediatric lead for the National Renal Complement Therapeutics Centre (based in Newcastle) and helps other doctors round the country treat children with rare kidney diseases called HUS and C3 Glomerulopathy.
Research
Dr Johnson undertakes clinical research into several kidney diseases in order to find better treatments for children affected by them.
She is the Research Secretary for the British Association for Paediatric Nephrology and Chair of the Paediatric Nephrology Clinical Studies Group, where she helps to co-ordinate all the UK children’s kidney units to undertake research into children’s kidney disease.
Outside of work, Dr Johnson has recently discovered the wonders of running.
