Engage for improvement

Sister, ODP and Matron

We are

  • actively engaging with our staff, to learn from them, ensuring they feel valued, listened to, respected and supported to contribute and shape care provision.

We will

  • continue to develop capability and capacity for improvement specifically in front line nurses, midwives and allied health professionals, supporting staff of all levels to access opportunities and training to facilitate clinical effectiveness and improvements in care.
  • nurture an open and collaborative workforce known locally, regionally and nationally for quality improvement.
  • build on our sense of pride in the place that we work and the care that we give ensuring staff feel a sense of genuine belonging, empowering them to influence and shape the way care is delivered.

How we are delivering this priority

A key priority for our strategy is engaging staff for improvement – empowering staff to influence and shape the way care is delivered.

Alison Armstrong is a Nurse Consultant for the North East Assisted Ventilation Service at the RVI. She explains what it is about her role that makes her proud, and how she feels supported to contribute and shape the provision of care.

Celebrating our Healthcare Support Workers

Our healthcare support workers are essential members of our clinical teams, providing fundamental care to patients across both our community and hospital settings as well as vital support to their colleagues.

To celebrate the vital contribution they make to patient care we held a Celebration Event with some very special prizes.
