Newcastle Hospitals has a number of clinical entrepreneur colleagues working with support from the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme on some new innovations.
They are helping the following:
– Our young patients with sensory needs
– Children and young people undergoing treatment for leukaemia
– Adults with pelvic health problems
It’s important that we support and nurture innovation as an organisation, and we’re invested in providing tailored support and opportunities to help grow and develop new ideas.
There’s huge value in identifying innovative approaches – whether a product or a way of working – and adopting them as widely as possible, so larger numbers of patients and staff can benefit.
The NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme is a one-year entrepreneurial workforce development programme and is open to all NHS staff to support the development and spread of innovative ideas to improve healthcare.
Professor Tony Young OBE, national clinical lead for innovation at NHS England and director of medical innovation and entrepreneurship at Anglia Ruskin University, said: “This programme puts NHS staff at the heart of innovation and aims to empower them with the knowledge, skills and support to help solve the challenges facing healthcare today and into the future.
“As a national programme, we are open to all NHS staff from across the country, and it is fantastic to see the innovations coming from colleagues in the north east of England.”
The closing date for applications is Sunday 29th October 2023 with the latest cohort due to start in March 2024.
