A DIGITAL programme which has saved the equivalent of more than 9,000 hours in staffing time a year at Newcastle Hospitals has won a national award
The Human Resources team received the ‘Best Augmented Workforce’ award at the IDC European Future of Work Awards 2021 for its robotic process automation (RPA) programme, which has made a huge different to staff on a day-to-day basis.
In essence, the programme has helped to minimise everyday HR processes and tasks – which previously would have been manually inputted – with the introduction of ‘bots’ for appraisal input and probationary reviews.
To date, the programme has saved thousands of hours in staffing time, increasing both efficiency and satisfaction.
Newcastle Hospitals is committed to expanding its digital agenda and using RPA has improved process quality, speed and productivity. More importantly it has ‘given back’ time to frontline staff to provide patient care.
Director of Human Resources, Dee Fawcett, said: “I’m delighted the team have won this Award. It’s a testament to the innovation, hard work and commitment in embracing the digital agenda within HR and across the Trust, and continuously improving our service to enhance the staff experience’.
The IDC European Future of Work Award 2021 judges noted the Trusts main driver of enhancing the staff experience and collaborative development on RPA as an important message to other organisations starting their digital journey.
The award was presented virtually yesterday (22 June) to Donna Watson, Head of Workforce Engagement and Systems and Sonny Yuan, Senior Workforce Information & Automation Specialist.
