If your child is under 4 years old and you, a health professional or their nursery think that your child may be autistic, your child can be referred to the speech and language therapy service using this referral form.

Speech and language therapy is part of the multidisciplinary team in Newcastle which provides an autism assessment and diagnostic service for children before they start school.
For children over 4 years old, your health professional can refer your child to the Children and Young People’s Service for an autism assessment.
